Love at first bite... Six Sentence Sunday

Six Sentency Sunday is a day where published or nonpublished authors share six sentences from their work. I will share six sentences (or a few more) from my newest WIP, Frequent Flyer. In this scene, Hope ran into Colin and his son, Jason, at Luigi's Pizza.

Colin scooted the basket closer to Hope, “Want an appetizer?”
“Thanks. I’m starving.” She took a breadstick, brushing her fingers against his.
A deep flutter fell across his belly. Wow! It’d been awhile since he felt that. He smiled at her as she took a bite and noticed her look around the room, anywhere but him. He was sure she felt the rush too.

Dr. McDreamy - Six Sentence Sunday

Six Sentency Sunday is a day where published or nonpublished authors share six sentences from their work. I will share six sentences (or a few more) from my newest WIP, Frequent Flyer. In this scene, Hope is leaving Dr. Colin Calaway's office after getting her cast off.

Why was she acting like a schoolgirl who didn’t know what to do? I’m a strong, independent woman. Get it together, Hope. Stand up straight, one foot in front of the other. Think of Dr. Mcdreamy later, not in front of him for goodness sake. “So, I’ll see you Saturday. And thanks…I mean Thank you.”
He lifted a corner of his mouth, the dimple calling her name. “My pleasure.” He opened the door and left the room without looking back.

Father's Day Six Sunday

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

In honor of Father's Day, I've chosen six sentences that include Jake and Amanda's fathers from Time Changes Everything. Joe, Amanda's dad, is so much like my own father.

Jake and Amanda take a trip home to Louisiana for Christmas. This excerpt is taken from their arrival.

Again, I am reminded how hard choosing only six sentences can be, so I cheated a little, and didn't officially enter the #sixsunday bloghop this week. Hope you enjoy anyway!

“Isn’t that something, you both living in New York? Libby had a fit when she found out.”
“What’s that Joe?” Libby jerked her head in his direction, since she always heard everything that went on around her, even if she was at the other side of the car.
“Nothing. Nothing.” Joe swung his hand in the air, as if there was a mosquito nagging at his neck.
“Well, anytime you need me to take care of her, you let me know.” Jake smiled at Amanda.
She clenched her teeth and turned her head. Jake knew she was pissed, but he loved her all riled up.
“Don’t tell her mother that, or you’ll be sorry.” Joe slapped him on the shoulder and trudged off with Amanda’s luggage. “What’s in these jiggers?”

Friendly Games Six Sentence Sunday

Six Sentency Sunday is a day where published or nonpublished authors share six sentences from their work. I will share six sentences (or a few more) from my newest WIP, Frequent Flyer, continuing a few paragraphs from where I left off last week.  Hope, the middle school principal, has just told Colin that his son has a detention and that he needs more father-son time.

“There’s a Friendly Games Morning this Saturday and I know Jason would love to attend.”
“Sounds perfect. Will you be there?” Now, why did he ask that? Maybe he wanted to see Ms. Robinson in some athletic shorts. He shook his head.  Stop it, Colin! Get yourself together. Your son needs you.
Her eyes widened and she smirked. “It’s a school function, so of course I’ll be there.”

More time...Six Sentence Sunday

Six Sentency Sunday is a day where published or nonpublished authors share six sentences from their work. I will share six sentences from my newest WIP, Frequent Flyer, continuing a few paragraphs from where I left off last week.  Hope, the middle school principal, has introduced herself to Colin and informed him that his son, Jason, has had three detentions at school.

Ms. Robinson stood, walked to his side, and placed her hand on his arm. “Maybe he’s seeking attention. I suggest spending more quality time with him - father and son time.”
Of course. What other time would there be? After his wife died two years ago, there would be no one else. It seemed like that’s all they had was father and son time, if they weren’t at Colin’s parents. He’d been busy in the past year with his research getting published in the medical journal. Maybe she was right. He needed to spend more time with Jason.

I'm Mrs. Robinson...Six Sentence Sunday

#sixsunday 5/27/12

Six Sentency Sunday is a day where published or nonpublished authors share six sentences from their work. I will share six sentences from my newest WIP, Frequent Flyer, continuing a few paragraphs from where I left off last week.  Hope, the middle school principal, has just invited Colin into her office.

Ms. Robinson’s long blonde hair looped into a bun at the back of her head, with strays falling on her long neck. She wore a tailored dark blue dress suit that showed off fine legs that she probably used to stomp on young misbehaved students. Her blue eyes glistened in his direction as she leaned back.

“That’s right, Mr. Calaway.” She smiled, her full lips beckoning for his attention.  “I’m Ms. Robinson. It’s nice to meet you, finally.”

Six Sentence Sunday 5/20/12

#sixsunday 5/20/12

Six Sentency Sunday is a day where published or nonpublished authors share six sentences from their work. I will share six sentences from my newest WIP, Frequent Flyer, continuing where I left off. Last week we met Colin, our male MC. Now, we will meet Hope, our female MC.

Just as the school bell rang, he saw a tall figure wobble into the office entrance.  She stepped closer and said, “You must be Mr. Calaway. ”
Colin stood, looked at her cast and then took a second look at the woman holding out her hand. “You’re the principal?”
“Hope Robinson..” She smiled as he shook her hand. “I appreciate you coming at such short notice. Please come into my office. ”

Hope you enjoyed. Please come back for more of the story next week! If you want to read more form other authors, please go to the link provided at the top of the page.

Six Sentence Sunday - Frequent Flyer 5/12/12

Today is Six Sentence Sunday. I decided to share my newest WIP, Frequent Flyer. These six are found at the beginning to introduce my hero, Colin, a single father waiting to meet his son's principal, Hope.

Colin sat at the edge of the hard plastic seat. Above him, the steady click of the wall clock kept him company as he waited for the principal to come talk to him. The receptionist sat behind a desk calendar plastered with five different colored post-it notes. She smiled at him, sensing his nervousness, he guessed. He heard the sound of kids’ feet running down the hall, and he squirmed in the uncomfortable chair. How much longer did he have to wait?

Six Sentence Sunday 4/29/12

Today is #sixsunday where published and non published writers share six sentences from a current WIP. Again, I will share from my Work in Progress, Time Changes Everything.

Amanda and Jake return home for Christmas. However, Amanda persuades Jake into keeping their relationship a secret. Now, both thier mothers are asking Amanda about her new boyfriend. Little do they know it's Jake. Amanda, baffled, tries to get out of saying the truth. At that precise moment, Jake steps in and questions what Amanda was doing.

“I wasn’t about to tell them!” Amanda found herself almost screaming.  “I said I wasn’t ready to talk about it.”
Jake strutted over to the counter, grabbed a cookie and took a bite. He leaned back, crossed his ankles, and smiled.
“Well, if she tells you, I’ll tell you.” He sent a wink her way.

More from this scene next week! Stay tuned!

Six Sentence Sunday 4/15/12

Today is #sixsunday where published and non-published writers share six sentences from their work.  I will share 6 sentences from my finished Work-In-Progress Time Changes Everything. It's mighty hard to pick out six sentences, but here it goes.

Jake looked at her and fire lit his eyes. “You’ve grown up, Mandy. You’ve turned into a beautiful woman instead of that awkward teenager. I guess time changes everything.”
Amanda took a big sip of her drink. She smiled at his handsome face, remembering how in love she had been with him when they were growing up. “I don’t know, Jake, sometimes time stands still.”

Thanks for reading!

Six Sentence Sunday 4/1/12

Happy April Fool's Day!

Today is #sixsunday where published and non-published writers share six sentences from their work.  I will share 6 sentences from my finished Work-In-Progress Time Changes Everything.

Every Sunday I think it gets harder and harder to choose just 6 lines. I cheated a bit and have 8 sentences. Shhhh. Don't tell anyone. Hopefully you enjoy today's pick.

To hell with it, she thought, with kisses like that, what could one night as Jake’s real date be like? It was time to find out.
She cleared her throat, leaned into his muscular body, and wiped her lipstick off his lips. “Not bad, smooth talker. But,  you may be in for a surprise tonight, too, Jake Edwards.” She walked ahead of him, swaying her hips more than usual. After a few steps, she stopped, peaked across her shoulder and said, “If you play your cards right.” She heard a growl behind her as she moved towards the boat, feeling Jake’s eyes on her.

The Lucky Meme

The Lucky 7 Meme

I was tagged by Chantel Rhondeau this week to participate in the Lucky 7 meme. The rules are:

  • Go to page 77 in current WIP
  • Go to line 7
  • Copy down the next 7 sentences and post them as they're written
  • Tag 7 other authors
  • Let them know
Background: Jake and Amanda go on their first "real" date together.

Everyone and everything around them disappeared as Amanda felt Jake’s breath in her ear, “Sorry about Ryan and Charisse. This really hasn’t gone as I planned.”
“Now I have you.” Amanda looked up into his eyes.
He held the small of her back with one hand and twirled her to face the opposite direction. They both chuckled and then danced to the music quietly.
“Remember when we danced at my homecoming seven years ago?" She smiled up at him. "All the girls were envious that I was with you.”
“Oh yeah. I was a freshman in college and you got stood up.” Jake winked.
Amanda winced. “Thanks for reminding me.”

I hope you enjoyed Jake and Amanda in Time Changes Everything. As you can see, they are rediscovering each other. More exceprts to come on 6 Sentence Sunday!

Check out these other romance writer's I know. I've personally read their work and don't think you want to miss reading their 7 lines! The first 5 are previous or current critique partners. The other two blogs are from favorite authors. Enjoy!
