Another week of 8! I will continue with New York Minute.
Chloe has dragged Veronica to a Speed Dating event. Veronica is not happy.
Taking
a deep breath, she wound her way to her seat which happened to be an intimate
table with two bucket seats. She scooted in and picked up the pen that sat next
to the cocktail menu and stared at her Speeding Ticket. Ten to twelve dates? She couldn’t even pretend that she
was a people-person for two minutes, how would she do this for an hour and a
half? She looked in her friend’s direction, and Chloe waved her fingers, crossing her legs to try to look prim and proper. Funny that they both had to act like
someone they weren’t.
When
the doors open and the men entered, the room quieted. All the women checked out
their potential dates like they were in a meat market. Veronica’s heart drummed in her chest and her palms began
to sweat. Just great.

Wow, she's in for a long session, with that many dates! Interesting story, can't wait to read more.
ReplyDeleteI love this. Your heroine and mine would get along great! I love putting a non-people person in a situation where she has to be social. Can't wait to read more
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've got her in an uncomfortable situation, Melinda. Can't wait to see who she meets!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I was laughing out loud as I read. "Funny that they both had to act like someone they weren't." Greatest line I've read this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think she'll end up having fun even if she doesn't connect with anyone. That is, if she'll give it a chance. At least it's only a couple of minutes per guy, not a whole date with these strangers.
