BOOK BLURB:
After her promotion from law firm Runner to Investigator, Kathleen Turner is learning the ropes of her new job from none other than assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon, a situation her boyfriend Blane Kirk is none too happy about. But the lessons with Kathleen take a back seat when Kade becomes a target. Previously untouchable, his enemies now know of the chink in his armor – his brother’s girlfriend.
And Kade’s not the only thing coming between Kathleen and Blane. From Blane’s inexplicable defense of a man guilty of a horrible crime, to a mysterious stranger from Kathleen’s past, to Kathleen’ risky investigation into human traffickers, the obstacles mount against a relationship that’s just begun to find trust again.
While Blane considers a job offer that would take him back to the front lines in the war on terror, Kathleen is determined to pursue her new career, with or without his approval. Unfortunately, her current case is far more dangerous than anyone knows. Someone close to Blane will go to extreme lengths to split them up, lengths that may prove worse than death for Kathleen.
Kathleen, Blane and Kade must atone for the sins of the past and the present. The fallout will force Kathleen to a turning point…in her career, and her life.

GUEST POST:
Thank you to Melinda for hosting me on the blog tour for TURNING POINT, the third book in The Kathleen Turner Series. There will be a total of five books in the series. Book four, OUT OF TURN, will be released on 12/17/13.
Melinda asked if I had any advice for newbie authors. I think we are at an exciting time to be an author, perhaps the best time ever for anyone aspiring to write. No one’s career is the same as another and everyone’s path is different.
My path began with self-publishing. I had a career already in the IT field and wasn’t discontented with that choice. Writing as a career was more one of those dreams that seemed very unobtainable. So I concentrated on writing what made me happy and making it the best it could possibly be. My first book went through three different editors and many revisions before I felt it was ready to be sold. Amazon’s KDP program is what I chose and it was definitely the right path for me. Soon after self-publishing my second book, I signed with Montlake Romance.
Self-publishing combined with the contract with Montlake enabled me to quit my day job and write full time. I hope that remains the case and that the books sell well, but as any author can tell you, sales are impossible to predict so I may return to my IT field at some point, but I won’t stop writing. I’m addicted now.
So my advice for newbie authors is this – write the very best book you can, edit and revise, then edit and revise again. Keep your eye on your personal goal – is it to make a living as an author? Have the prestige of an agent and/or publishing house behind you? Both? Either way, choose the path that will accomplish your goals, no one else’s, because at the end of the day, it’s YOUR career and YOUR life.
Now, enough serious talk. Melinda wants me to talk about who I think are my Top 5 Romantic Heroes. Um, talk about hot men? Yes, please. ;-)
#5 – Zsadist, Lover Awakened of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
What’s not to love about Zsadist? His tortured psyche and scars, both emotional and physical, is enough to make any woman want to offer to be his shoulder to cry on, not that he’d take you up on that. His vulnerability carefully disguised under a lethal exterior of menace and hostility make Zsadist the perfect contemporary tortured Alph-male hero.
#4 – Christopher Seton, A Rose in Winter by Kathleen Woodiwiss
Published in 1982, Kathleen Woodiwiss was ahead of her time in creating her hero, Christopher Seton. More akin to the Alpha-male heroes of contemporary romance, Christopher is a dashing privateer who desperately falls in love with Erienne, the heroine of the novel, who ends up being auctioned on the block by her father to a wealthy but scarred Lord Saxton. Murder, vengeance, a dark secret all wrapped around Christopher’s continued pursuit of Erienne make A Rose in Winter a book I’ve read and reread a dozen times.
#3 – Mr. Darcy, Pride and Prejudice
Is any list of romantic heroes complete without our Mr. Darcy? Jane Austen is a favorite author and Pride and Prejudiceranks as high as Persuasion on my favorite novels list. Deep and complex, Ms. Austen’s heroes keep you coming back for more.
#2 – Eric Northman, The Southern Vampire Mysteries
Six feet and four inches of blond haired, blue eyed, sex-on-two-legs – what’s not to like about Eric? Oh yeah, he drinks blood, is over 1,000 years old and can fly, but why let those pesky little things bother you? A complex and as Alph-male as they get, Eric is the standard to which I hold all other paranormal heroes in contemporary fiction. (And Alexander Skarsgard’s portrayal of him on True Blood hasn’t hurt either.)
#1 – Rhett Butler, Gone with the Wind
Suave, dashing, charming, rich, a sometimes outlaw, Rhett Butler always knew just what to say and do in his unrelenting pursuit of the elusive Scarlett O’Hara. A sometimes gorgeous, a lot heartbreaking, but always fascinating romance, these two characters have a love affair that spanned three marriages, a miscarriage, the death of a child, and a war.
