Masked Love by Nicole Zoltack
Isabelle is content being a maid, and will do anything for her lady, even accompany her to a masquerade ball. Lady Theodosia needs extra support and encouragement on this night, for tomorrow she will meet the man her parents have pledged her to.
Isabelle has never had occasion to attend such an event, and is at first ill at ease. But meeting an enchanting young man during the course of the evening makes her wish for a life she can never have. Thinking she will never see him again, she returns his flirtation and even reveals her face. Imagine her shock when he shows up the next morning, announcing his claim on Lady Thedosia.
Isabelle does all she can to avoid Lord Adrian Wingave, but then he not only sees her, he recognizes her. To make matters worse, Isabelle fears her feelings are not one-sided. Torn between duty and desire, Isabelle hopes for something more this Christmas.

I don't usually read historicals, but I'm so glad I had the chance to read Masked Love. I read this in just a few hours, as it's a short romance. Set in the Regency Era, I felt like I was reading about Jane Austen, Lizzy Bennett or Emma. If I read a historical, this is the time period I love! The instant love is so heart-warming during those times. Isabelle and Adrian meet during a Masquerade ball during the holiday season. What they both don't know is that Adrian is to be married to Isabelle's employer, Theodosia. Adrian doesn't know that Isabelle is just a maid. Yet, when they find out, it doesn't matter, because their love for each other far outweighs any social class perils. Adrian was always the gentlemen, not wanting to hurt Theodosia, but when he learns that Theodosia doesn't want to marry either, he's set on finding a solution to make every one happy. Centered around the holidays, Masked Love is a heart-warming, quick read with the joys of Christmas and love around every corner. Don't miss this read!

4 stars!

What sparked your interest in becoming a romance writer?
I’ve always been a hopeless romantic. I mean, I married my first kiss and the only guy I ever dated, my college sweetheart. I knew I wanted to be a writer since I was five but it wasn’t until about high school that I realized I wanted to write romance.

What is your writing environment?
Most of my writing is done on my netbook on the couch opposite our TV. I could get writing done in the middle of a battle. If the TV’s on, or music is playing, or even sometimes when hubby’s talking to me (sorry, hon!), I can still write.

Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
Sometimes I’ll know a particular character, usually the hero or heroine, rather well before I start writing, but I’m a panster, so I don’t plan or plot very much.

What type of book have you always wanted to write?
I’ve always wanted to write a medieval romance that didn’t have a paranormal/fantasy aspect to it. The one time I tried, a character wanted a speaking role. Only he was dead. I plan on writing one…eventually.

What is your favorite scene in your new release?
Definitely the masquerade ball – when Isabelle and Lord Adrian first meet. They don’t know who the other is so they – especially Isabelle, a handmaiden – can speak their mind. They share one dance together, and I think it’s rather romantic. I might be a little biased, lol

Flirting Questions
Which actor or book character do you have a crush on?
Oh, boy, that’s hard to answer if I can only say one! I guess I’ll go with Ian Somerhalder.

When was your last kiss?
*runs off to find hubby* Just now! ;)

How did you meet your significant other?
The first day of classes freshman year of college. We partially walked the way to bio together. He asked me out that December and we’ve been together ever since.

What’s your idea of a perfect date?
A perfect date isn’t about what you do. It’s about the person you’re spending time with. As long as I’m having fun, enjoying myself, maybe talking about dreams for the future, I’m good. Of course, if there’s dessert and chocolate involved, I’m not going to complain!

If you could take a romantic trip, where would it be?
I would love to go to Italy and Greece for a looong trip. Maybe someday.
