Laurel will do anything to save her Santorini inn from the powerful Damon family, and that includes manipulating Andrew Damon, the man they’ve sent to get her off the property.  Andrew might have a reputation for being irresistible to women, but she won’t have any problem resisting him. This is war, after all, and the Damons drew their weapons first.

Andrew has spent most of his life chasing women and wasting time, but he’s determined to do his duty by his family, even if that means ousting an infuriating (and gorgeous) widow from the inn that legally belongs to the Damons.  He doesn’t expect to fall for her. And he definitely doesn’t expect to discover that he’s been played.

What was the first romance novel you read that made an impression on you?
When I was a kid, I loved this series of romances for young adults called Sunfire Romances. They were all titled by girls’ names, and they were set throughout American history, during the time of some important or noteworthy event. I gobbled those books up—for both the romance and the history. I still own all of my old paperback copies of them.
Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
I tend to do characterization intuitively. That is, I’ll go with actions, thoughts, and dialogue that feels right to me at any given moment of the book. So I’ll start with broad characteristics of a certain character (he’s got control issues, or she clings to her independence), but I won’t have all the nuances worked out until I actually write the story. Often, a character won’t fully take shape until the revision process, since it’s only then that I realize how the characterization and the plot come together.
Who is your perfect hero? And why?
My favorite heroes are all complex and layered, and their power and appeal come from something deeper than physicality. They’re always strong and sexy, of course, but their real power is mental, verbal, emotional, rather than just physical. I want a man who can blow me away and turn my knees to jelly by his mind and his conversation—not just the way he looks.
How did you get the idea for this particular novel?
I introduced Andrew as a character in Seducing the Enemy, since he’s the brother of Harrison, the hero of that book. So I knew I was going to write a book about Andrew. I was flipping channels one day and came across a documentary on the Greek islands, and I realized I needed to write a book set on Santorini. That was how the inspiration came together for Playing the Playboy.
What is your favorite scene in your new release?
I really love two scenes in Playing the Playboy. One is the love scene after the dog-crisis. It’s really raw and emotional, and I love how it turned out. And then I absolutely love the scene when Andrew returns to Oia after the black moment and finds Laurel working and helps her back to her room. It’s nothing dramatic or earth-shattering—it’s a really quite scene—but the emotions feel really deep and authentic to me. I thought about amping up the drama, but finally decided against it, since the subtlety conveys exactly the feeling I want.

Random Questions:
What’s your favorite body part of the opposite sex?
His mind. Or, if that doesn’t count, his abs.
What does love feel like?
Like the rest of life—sometimes thrilling and sometimes heartbreaking and sometimes just hard work.
When was your last kiss?
Does kissing my dog count?
What’s an absolute no-no in a relationship?
Betrayal.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
No. Absolutely not. I believe in attraction at first sight, but that never equals love.

Quickies:

Boxers or Briefs? Boxers.

Facial hair or clean shaven? I can never decide!

Planner or Panster? Some of both.

White wine or red? Red.

[Blitz Tour] Crash Into Me by Tracy Wolff @Entangled

Crash Into My by Tracy Wolff

She’s totally off limits, but this rocker wants a taste…

Jamison Matthews has lusted after Ryder Montgomery since she was a preteen. But now that Ryder and her brother’s band, Shaken Dirty, has made it huge, she’s just one of many pining for the brooding lead singer. Too bad Ryder still sees her as a little sister. Not that it matters. Her brother would never allow it, and the last thing Jamison wants is to be another notch on a rock star’s bed post. Even if it’s Ryder’s.

Ryder doesn’t deserve happiness. After his fame destroyed his last girlfriend, he swore he’d never fall in love again. So when Jamison, the girl he’s been in danger of loving for years, joins the band on the road, he’ll do anything to deny the sparks between them—even after one hot night together. But Jamison is determined to show Ryder that he’s worthy of love—her love—and that she’s all grown up…and ready to play.

Excerpt CRASH INTO ME-
            Onstage, the band launched into “Awake,” one of the power ballads that had made them famous. The crowd screamed their approval and so did she. Totally not her typical modus operandi, but she couldn’t help it. Something about listening to Ryder croon the darkly haunting lyrics had her knees trembling and her heart beating much too quickly. If she closed her eyes, she could do what all the other women in the audience were doing and pretend that he was singing straight to her.
            So much better than remembering he’d written these heartfelt words for another woman. For Carrie, who had killed herself and broken his heart so many years before. Her own heart ached at the thought. For him. Always for him. At twenty-nine, Ryder had already been through more darkness and despair than any one person should have to handle.
            “Awake” finally came to a close, the last note hanging in the air for long, tension-fueled seconds. Then the band fell silent and the audience did the same, as if they were all holding their breaths. Ryder lowered his guitar, shuffled, and stamped his feet once, twice. It was a familiar gesture, one years of experience had taught her was his way of shaking off excess emotion. Again her heart twisted. It devastated her that more than ten years after the fact he was still eaten up by what had happened. Still determined to bury it under a bunch of layers that not only insulated him from his pain but also hid the real Ryder so deep inside the public Ryder that she wondered sometimes if he even existed anymore. Or if the boy who had held her while she cried, who had let her whisper her pre-adolescent fears without ever making fun of her, had disappeared forever.
            She searched for him in that one endless moment.
            Looked for him in the obsidian eyes that arrowed to the heart of the crowd even as they barricaded his own emotions.
            Combed through her own memories and expectations in an effort to see Ryder as he really was instead of how he portrayed himself.
            And when his eyes—his crazy, beautiful eyes—met hers, she found him. Seconds passed, long, intense seconds where she lost the ability to hear or breathe or even think. All she could do was look into Ryder’s eyes, at the feral heat boiling up and out of them, and want.
            She smiled at him, waved. He snarled back. But it wasn’t a leave-me-alone snarl. No, definitely not. It was his I-want-to-fuck-you-up-against-a-wall snarl—she knew it well, had seen it directed at a lot of women through the years—and her knees gave way when she realized that this time, finally, it was directed at her. It didn’t matter that there was no sign of recognition in his eyes, no knowledge that the woman he was looking at like that was actually her. Jamison. For one moment, he wanted her the way she’d always wanted him.

            It was more than enough.

[Book Tour] Something's Cooking by Meg Lacey

Something’s Cooking
by Meg Lacey

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
"Something’s cooking in more than the kitchen…
Tess Banyon is a ‘Martha Stewart’ type of homemaker-guru-marketing-entrepreneur-extraordinaire.  Investigative journalist, Josh Farraday is determined to convince the women of America that Tess is too good to be true.
He’s right.
Tess is a marvelous marketer with tons of ideas, but she can’t really cook and has been known to attach herself to a grapevine wreath with her glue gun.  Now she’s doing her own TV show, and Josh has been assigned to do a behind-the-scenes story."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 EXCERPT:

She stood frozen for a minute before she said faintly, “What do you think you’re doing?”

At the same time, Josh jerked back the curtain that encircled the claw-footed antique bathtub. Hands clenched on the divided curtain, his eyes widened to the size of half-dollars, and his jaw practically dropped to his chest as he stared at her for a long moment.

“Am I missing something here?”

Tess studied the length of his body, coming to rest on his most volatile piece of male equipment. “Nope, all there,” she said, “every inch.”

He laughed. “That’s a relief.”

Her heart was pounding with a staccato fury, and for a moment she felt like she’d melt. He was gorgeous. “What are you doing in my bathroom?”

Josh swiped his hands down his body to shed the excess water, then stepped out of the tub onto the bathmat. He reached for the towel hanging on a rack. Lazily, he wrapped the terrycloth around his waist, tucking the end in. He smiled. “You said the door right at the top of the stairs.”

“I said turn right at the top of the stairs.”

“Oh, turn right.” He grinned. “I thought you were being a bit forward.”

“Were you snooping in my bedroom?” she asked, amazed at the thought.

He nodded toward the door. “Are you sure that’s your room? It looks like a stage set. There’s nothing personal to identify you in there. No mementos, nothing. I found that disappointing, considering your skills.”

“You admit it? You were looking through my room?”

“Only on the way to the bathroom.”

“I don’t believe you,” she said, punctuating her words by poking her finger into his chest. “You’re a low-down snoop, that’s what you are.”

“A snoop? A reporter being called a snoop? Surely not.”

His chuckle was infectious, but Tess wasn’t buying it. She was red-faced and perspiring, although that could have been from the heat and moisture in the room, not because she was more embarrassed than she’d ever been in her entire life, or wanted to rip the towel from his hips.
