[Book Tour] The Tethering by Megan O'Russell - Megan's Writing Playlist

I think before I write this post about my writing play list, I have to make a confession. I am a huge dork. I barely know the names of any bands and have spent my adult life as a professional musical theatre performer. I know a lot about Broadway and nothing about concerts. So, my writing playlist is a little strange. On most writing days, my playlist is the How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack on repeat. I love the sense of urgency and adventure it gives me. And since only one of the songs has words, I don’t accidentally transcribe the lyrics into whatever I’m writing.

If I’m feeling a little dangerous, I go for John Williams and the Boston Pops. When I need variety, I have the Prague Philharmonic movie music station on my Pandora. And on days when I’m writing something really fast paced (fighting, death, things like that) I have Celtic rock Pandora. There are lyrics in those songs, but since I can’t understand a word of it, I don’t find it distracting while I work.

Now that you know my dorkiness in full, I hope you will enjoy what movie soundtracks helped me to create.

All sixteen-year-old Jacob Evans wants is to win the heart of Emilia Gray, but with order in the magical world crumbling, war threatening, and Emilia’s boyfriend living across the hall, he may never have the chance.
Jacob Evans loses everything he has ever known and is tossed into a world of magic. The Dragons, a group of rebel wizards, are threatening to expose the existence of magic to humans. Jacob is determined to find a way to fit into Emilia’s family, but as his powers grow, so does the danger. With the death toll mounting, Jacob is accused of acts of rebel terrorism and must fight to stay in a world he’s only just beginning to discover.
When Emilia’s life is threatened, Jacob must risk everything to save her. Does he have the power to rescue her in time? And what could their survival cost?
